Dear
Shalom
We continue editing the
proceedings of the Sixth Latin American Symposium on Nuclear Physics and
Applications. For this reason we sent your article “Equation of state of
symmetric and asymmetric nuclear matter” for review and –I am happy to report—
it has been accepted.
The referee, however,
requests that you consider the optional revisions mentioned in the report below.
I am attaching the pdf file that was generated from your submission and
that was sent to the referee.
I congratulate you on
this acceptance, and ask you to please consider the referee’s suggestions and
provide me with an updated manuscript to submit to Heavy Ion Physics by Jan 27,
2006.
I thank you beforehand
for your help,
Jorge

begin_report (use as
much space as is needed):
Report on Manuscript:
``Equation of State of Symmetric and Asymmetric Nuclear Matter'', by Shalom
Shlomo and Tapas Sil.
This is a sound and well
written manuscript that addresses a topic that is both timely and important and
should be published. I only enclose a few optional suggestions for the
consideration of the authors.
1. The authors should state
what (if any) is new in this manuscript
relative to
Ref.[16] by Agrawal, Shlomo, and Kim~Au.
2. In the last sentence of
item (iii) in the Conclusions the authors
should change:
``The uncertainty of 20 MeV is mainly due to the
uncertainty in
the value of $J$'' to ``The uncertainty of 20 MeV
is mainly due
to the uncertainty in the density
dependence
of the symmetry energy.
3. Related to this last
point, the authors should include in Table 1.
the value of L
(the slope of the symmetry energy at saturation)
in addition to
the value of K and J.
In summary, the manuscript
is sound and interesting and I recommend it for publication in the conference
proceedings that will appear in the journal Heavy Ion
Physics.
