  • General introduction to ATLAS Software and Computing. The ATLAS software environment. The Athena framework, build system, release structure, data and algorithms in Athena. The Event Data Model.
  • Mon 10 Mar pm:
  • a) Basics of Grid Computing-GRID. Organisation of the WLCG Grid. Technical aspects: Computing Elements, Storage Elements, Networking, Security, User Interfaces.
    b) Tutorial: how to use ATLAS software, add algorithms, compile, run.
  • Tue 11 Mar am:
  • a) The ATLAS software chain: from Simulation through Trigger to Reconstruction and Physics Analysis Tools: how to set up and run an ATLAS analysis code.
    b) Tutorial: how to set up a basic Grid infrastructure, including monitoring and accounting.
  • Tue 11 Mar pm:
  • Distributed Data Management. Data catalogues, tools for data selection and access. Data movement tools.
  • Wed 12 Mar am:
  • a) The ATLAS Computing Model: integrating all tools into a working environment. Principles of the ATLAS grid infrastructure: Production System and Distributed Analysis.
    b) Tutorial: how to select datasets of interest for your analysis, find their locations, access the data files.
  • Wed 12 Mar pm:
  • Tutorial: how to run Trigger-aware analyses
  • Thu 13 Mar am:
  • Tutorial: how to use the Distributed Analysis Tools to send jobs to the data and get the output back.
  • Thu 13 Mar pm:
  • The last steps of physics analysis: interactive access to local data.
  • Fri 14 Mar:
  • Joint session with the GRID Workshop for biomedical applications (HELEN-SECyT)
