Buenos Aires Information

ARRIVAL IN ARGENTINA

International flights arrive at Ezeiza International Airport, 25 km from Buenos Aires, while domestic flights arrive at Aeroparque, close to the city center. Currency can be exchanged at the airport, but better rates are obtained in town. ATM machines are available everywhere and work with most major credit amd debit cards. Public phones are either coin or card operated. Cards can be purchased at the airport and throughout the city. You can also place collect local calls by dialing #19.
The Manuel Tienda Leon company offers transportation form Ezeiza to Buenos Aires, the ride takes about 40 minutes. Their ticket stand is the first one after you exit customs. There is also public transportation buses that serve downtown at a (very) cheap rate, but we do not recommend them if you carry a significant amount of luggage.

TRANSPORTATION

The University Campus (Ciudad Universitaria) is served by bus lines 28, 33, 37, 42, 45, 107 and 160. Some cars end their route before reaching the University campus, only those with the special sign Ciudad Universitaria behind their windshield serve the School site. You should step down at the first campus stop to get to the Physics building, Pabellon 1. All buses have their terminus inside campus, so you can't go much further anyways. The bus fare (90 cents) must be paid aboard, using coin-operated ticket machines. You do not need to pay the exact fare, but you must pay with coins (the driver will not provide change).
Taxis are not very expensive. The ride from downtown should cost about 20 pesos and last 20 mins.

PHONE SERVICES

Card operated public phones, for local and international calls, are available in the ground floor of the building. Cards are available in the kiosk next to the building entrance. Long-distance phone and fax services are also available in cabins next to the entrance to the second building (Pabellon 2). The rates for international calls from these cabins ("Locutorios", also common downtown) are cheaper than hotel phone rates.

DEPARTURE INFORMATION

The Manuel Tienda Leon Company offers transportation from downtown Buenos Aires to Ezeiza International Airport. The ride takes about 40 minutes. The bus terminal is in Av. Santa Fe 790. Passengers can request to be picked up from the hotel at no extra charge to the following phone numbers 4314-3636; 4315-5115; 0800-7770078.
